  1. Jack says:

I remember as a boy being told by the priest to confess “distractions at prayer”.

I find it somewhat odd then that some Australian Bishops’ are encouraging distractions from the Royal Commission into sexual abuse, by suggesting that the Australian Church goes back to past practices.

    Have they learnt nothing!

Surely it was past practices that got them into this mess.

Such a fishy distraction is not the answer to the modern day malaise nor the Royal Commission, and their lordships (another blast from the past) would really be better to put their thinking and prayer caps on, and search for modern-day symbols of belief, modern-say solutions to what it means to be a Catholic.

Come on “My Lords”, surely you have more imagination than this.

Yes some distractions one ought to confess.

  2. Lynne Newington says:

Having the church decide what penance should be done on anything is a distraction if you ask me, if it doesn't work for themselves they're in no position to judge anyone else's 'monomers'.
Trying to regain their authority as far as I'm concerned.
How about starting by preaching The Truth Sets You Free..
