    Well he should know; he was trained when seminaries had the guidelines and any formation by the familes was limited to fostering of vocations, the seminary then took over where they were ontologically changed.
    I'm sure many parents wouldn't recognise their sons who later became priests, bishops and cardinals.

    That’s all very well for Francis to say that but the process for managing dysfunctional behaviour in priests in NZ is woeful and has been for a long time.

    Sure we are all human but it is important to acknowledge that everyone needs to be managed or supervised in the interests of the people we work for.

    The priestly ministry seems to act with an unhealthy degree of autonomy to the detriment of the people of God.
