The Health Ministry is seeking expressions of interest from health providers to improve accessibility to abortion services for Maori, Pacific, and disabled people.

Dr Verrall says many Maori, particularly younger women, are put off by the sterile environment at clinics.

"They're often hospital-based and more traditional-looking medical services but we are also asking for co-design services for rangatahi Maori so we are trying to get a spread and diversity in providers so women can find one that meets their needs," she says. Read more
