Judge reserves decision on McGrath appeal... Read more]]> Justice Cameron Mander has reserved his decision on an appeal by Kevin McGrath to the High Court in Christchurch.

He has been fighting extradition to Australia for some years and was ordered by New Zealand's Justice Minister to surrender to Australia in August.

The judgement will be handed down in writing at a later date.

McGrath 66, formerly a Catholic brother is facing 252 charges of child sexual abuse, alleged to have occurred in the Lake Macquarie region in the 1970s and 80s and involving 35 victims. Continue reading

Defence lawyer Phillip Allan told the court his client could have limited access to legal aid in Australia and Ms Collins should have considered that further.
