Pacific churches act on climate change

Nuie recently hosted the the biggest climate change conference in the Pacific. Over 100 people representing 17 countries attended the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable meeting in Nuie which concluded on 18 March.

Reverend Tafue Lusama, General Secretary of Te Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu (the Christian Church of Tuvalu) gave the keynote presentation on behalf of the  non-government organisations

Reverend Lusama considers climate advocacy as part of the church’s prophetic role. He said the churches should work alongside other civil groups in addressing climate change. “The recognition of the severity of the issue and the urgency of it brings us together. We recognise the need to stand together, to work together and put all efforts together in trying to help our people.”
