St Anne’s Whanganui won the role of Namibia at the Rippa Rugby World Cup in Auckland.
The school’s Rippa team won the Whanganui tournament and the right to represent the city against 19 other regional winners from around the country. In keeping with the Rugby World Cup theme, each team has been allotted one of the 20 competing RWC2011 nations and St Anne’s drew Namibia.
The New Zealand Rugby Union flew the party to Auckland where they competed in two days of competition at North Harbour Stadium in a bid to become the acclaimed world champs.
583 schools around New Zealand competed regionally in Rippa Rugby qualifying tournaments for the honour of being of the 20 teams to compete in the finals at North Harbour Stadium.
Each team is made up of 10 Year Six primary school students (five boys, five girls)
