Samoa having a Christmas in the Park Celebration this year

On the 15 December Samoa is going to have a Christmas in the Park concert similar to those staged in countries like New Zealand and Australia.

At the launch of the event last week a glimpse was given  of what the community can expect to see. Performers, dancers, singers, choirs and bands will have an all-Samoan line up locally and from overseas.

Producer Tuala Ponifasio said the event is not just a concert but it will become a tradition in Samoa.

“Christmas in the Park is a concept that will lift the spirit of Christmas in Samoa,” he promised.

“Our festive season will start off with a bang with lots of activities and a Santa Parade.

“The show is about the spirit of Christmas;the joy, the giving and gifting with the focus is on the family.”

Tongan artist, Melenau Lino who has close links to Samoans in New Zealand, will be back in the country to perform and do what she does best which is singing.

Ms Lino started off as a gospel singer at church and enjoys a mix of island music.
