Wellington woman going to Italy to join Focolare movement

Vicky Wall will leave on 23 April for Loppiano in Italy to join the Focolare movement. She is preparing to commit herself as a consecrated woman who are known as ‘Focolarina’.

The Focolare movement is a lay Catholic organisation founded in Italy by Ciara Lubich during World War II. The movement’s charism is ‘Unity’, with a particular focus on the prayer of Jesus: ‘May they all be One, Father, as you and I are One; (Jn 17:21).

Vicky has been are very active in St Mary of the Angels Parish over the past 8 years. She spent 4 of those years in the leadership team of the SMAYAC’s (St Mary of the Angels young adults group). She has been instrumental in creating a foundation for young adults in the Parish and the SMAYAC’s have grown over the years into a committed and prayerful group of young people.

Last year she left to live in the Focolare community house in Johnsonville.
