Parishioners in Somosomo, Taveuni, Fiji witnessed the rededication of the 100-year-old Muaniseva Church bell last Saturday.
Officiating at the event, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong said the toll of the bell in the past had stirred the former Tui Cakau Ratu Golea and his people to convert to Christianity and it would carry out the same task again but this time to bring change to the lives of the people in the village.
Also present at the occasion was the Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, his wife Emily Lalabalavu and representatives from the chiefly clan of Lalagavesi.
The bell was christened Bernadette when it was installed 100 years ago and was lately refurbished for the 150th anniversary celebrations on the island. Continue reading
