St Mary’s Church, in Hawridge, in the UK held a Sunday service which was over in just 12 minutes.
It was led by the Rector of Hawridge, Rev David Burgess, on Sunday, May 3.
Burgess decided to hold the service after being set a challenge by one of his parishioners who said “I would come to a church service if only lasted 10 minutes.”
Having the shorter service more than doubled the usual Sunday congregation.
Burgess was aiming for a 10 minute service, but he did overrun by two minutes on the day.
Friend of St Mary’s Church Janet Hopkinson said: “The first ever, to the best of our knowledge, “short and sharp” 10 minute parish service was a success.
