The Methodist Church of Fiji has called on its members not to engage in illegal practices that could disrupt the peace in the country.
The message came from Methodist Church general secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu who said it was important for its church members to adhere to the rule of law.
“I think that it’s clear. For the time being, considering the situation it is very important that we try and maintain peace in the country,” Reverend Waqairatu told FijiLive.
“It is a general principle that as Christians that we should respect and obey the rule of law. People should be wise and they should abide to the conditions that have been given to them,” he said.
Reverend Waqairatu’s call comes in light of government’s directive on Thursday to ban all Methodist Church meetings.
