NZ Rugby players in Tonga to say no to domestic violence

Seven rugby players and a trainer from New Zealand ITM Cup and Super rugby teams  arrived in Tonga on Monday for a week-long tour visiting schools and community groups.

The players are in Tonga to assist the Pacific Prevention of Domestic Violence Programme (PPDVP) a New Zealand Aid funded programme, and the Tonga Police

Head of the PPDVP in New Zealand, Cam Ronald, said one of the best ways of preventing violence was for young men and woman to see role models promoting the message that violence is not OK.

“I’d really encourage kids and adults in Tonga to come out and see the boys as they spend time with young people and young rugby players during the week,” he said.
