Mercy Sister NZ’s top vege gardener

NZ Gardener Magazine Awards has named Sister Rosemary Revell as “Best Vege Gardener” for 2012.

She is now one of 10 finalists for the overall prize of New Zealand’s top gardener. This is decided by public vote.

“As far as I am concerned any prizes would go to the garden and to help others start their own gardens at home. If we do make it we could have garden set-up kits for all those who join Bridget’s gardening classes and garden set-up programme,” says Sister Rosemary.

Sister Rosemary is one of three sisters at Papatuanuku ki Taurangi (Earth Promise), at Ellerslie in Auckland, New Zealand.
The garden is described as “a place for teaching and learning as well as providing food. It is based on permaculture and organic principles, and is designed as a place of beauty. Hospitality is core and whoever comes is welcome. We have had many celebrations, and partnered with others who share this site”.
