Concerned southern church leaders who met Revenue Minister Peter Dunne last week say he has agreed to review the Government’s policy on accommodation taxes for clergy.
Church leaders from the major denominations and representatives from the Interchurch Working Party on Taxation met Mr Dunne last week to discuss concerns about tax changes to accommodation allowances, which would increase costs for churches and clergy.
The tax changes, originally set to be introduced on April 1, mean clergy will have to pay tax on the market rental of accommodation provided by the church.
