Last Thursday (local time) Father Peter Brown was ordained as the second Bishop of Samoa Pago Pago.
More than 1000 people attended the 3 hour long mass of consecration which took place at the Holy Family Cathedral Fatuoaiga with many bishops from Oceania attending.
Bishop Brown was consecrated on Thursday by His Excellency, the Apostolic Nuncio of New Zealand and the Pacific – Archbishop Martin Krebs, and co-consecrators Bishop Emeritus John Quinn Weitzel and Bishop Denis Browne of Hamilton, New Zealand.
There was a large delegation from the Samoan Catholic Community South Auckland, where Father Brown has been working.
Overseas dignitaries include Samoa’s Head of State Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese, and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele. Malielegaoi.
About 20 members of Father Brown’s family also attended.
