Honolulu Diocese makes plans for new school

As part of its 2035 growth plan, the Diocese of Honolulu wants to purchase a minimum of 30 acres in West Oahu to build a church and new school – a 1,500-student campus for middle school and high school.

The church would take up between 10 to 12 acres, while the school would use about 20 acres.

The Diocese is talking to other landowners in West Oahu about acquiring property after a deal with the University of Hawaii, West Oahu could not be worked out, Marlene De Costa, director of real estate for the church, told Pacific Business News.

De Costa declined to reveal who the church is talking to.

“Some [land] owners have reached out to us and I have reached out to [others],” she said. “We are in very preliminary talks [and] there’s no timeframe [to get a deal done],” she said.
