Geoffrey Palmer supporting assisted death application

Former Prime Minister, and constitutional lawyer Sir Geoffrey Palmer is supporting Lecretia Seales in her attempt to clarify the law in a way that would allow her GP to help her to die.

Palmer was sitting with her family and friends in the jury box when the case began in the High Court in Wellington on Monday.

Seales has a brain tumour and may have just weeks to live.

She formerly worked for Palmer’s firm Chen Palmer, for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and more recently was a law reformer working at the Law Commission. Continue reading
