Priest leaves village after allegation of sexual misconduct

A priest from Vailoa Palauli on the island of Savai’i in Samoa has left the village after an allegation of sexual misconduct.

It is alleged that he was caught sleeping with a Year 13 student.

Spokesperson for the Catholic Church, Father Fereti said they have no comment to make.  He also refused to confirm or deny the allegation.

The Village’s mayor, Mata’afa Esau Pesaleli, confirmed the allegation had been made. He told the Samoa Observer the incident has left the village in a state of shock.

“What I can tell you is that priest has already left our village, about three weeks now,” Mata’afa said. Continue reading
