The names of Winston Churchill and JK Rowling will be removed from houses at a secondary school after their views were branded “intolerant” by teenage students.
Pupils at Seaford Head School in East Sussex stated that the wartime Prime Minister was responsible for “torturing many”, while the Harry Potter author was not “suitable” due to her “words about the trans community.”
Parents were informed in a letter that houses honouring these figures would be renamed to ensure they do not promote “prejudice”. New titles based on local topography would be put to a vote among the student body of 11 to 18-year-olds.
