A person from the rainbow community is calling out ads for a Brian Tamaki Destiny Church event showing a boy carrying a severed head - an apparent reference to David and Goliath - and bearing the tagline "Time to kill".

Members of Tamaki's Destiny Church have recently been charged for destroying rainbow crossings in Gisborne and Auckland, and were responsible for a series of drag events being cancelled around the country.

The image of the child and the head are part of promotion for an event last night in New Plymouth.

The next event is to be held in Whanganui on Tuesday evening.

Promotional material on social media for the events uses phrases like "Time to kill", "It's time to gather heads" and "I want a head (trophy) on my mantlepiece (sic)!"

But Tamaki said the imagery was used figuratively and the phrase "Time to kill" was from the Bible. Read more

Funded by Irirangi Te Moto - New Zealand On Air and TVNZ, BEYOND CONVERSION is produced by Leanne Pooley and directed by Loren Prendiville (pictured above) and is an intimate look at the fight to ban conversion practices in Aotearoa.

BEYOND CONVERSION follows a bill many thought would pass unanimously, but was in-fact highly contested, prompting the largest number of public submissions in New Zealand's legislative history.

This powerful story is told through the voices of Kiwi survivors, who have laid themselves bare to shed light on the impacts of conversion practices.

The film explores the complexities of this divisive issue, along with the spectrum of voices and opinions that came to light during the political process. BEYOND CONVERSION is a moving, nuanced conversation about religious freedom, personal identity and the meaning of choice. Read more

The study explored the relationship between Takatapui/LGBTIQ+ and homelessness, and was carried out by researcher Dr Brodie Fraser.

Earlier research from Fraser examined the experiences of eight people from the LGBTIQ+ community who had been homeless.

There was a clear disparity in the proportion of homeless who were LGBTIQ+, Fraser said. However, New Zealand lacks comprehensive data on the LGBTIQ+ population, so they made use of international figures. Read more
