Six graders in a Rome Catholic School in Rome, New York are making Kiwi cakes, which they say, are a tradition in New Zealand.
A recent Social Studies project assigned to sixth-grade students at Rome Catholic School afforded them an opportunity to not only learn about a foreign country of their choice, but enabled them to become amateur chefs.
The spread included kiwi cakes, a tradition in New Zealand; potato pancakes, called bramborák in Czech Republic; lumpia, a Philippine version of egg rolls; Swedish meatballs, from Sweden and more.
In addition to providing facts about the country that they chose, students brought in a traditional dish associated with that country, culminating in an international smorgasbord for the students to sample.
