Mike Smith was chuffed to see a story about himself in the St Bede’s College centennial book, but a little shocked to read about his violent death.
The story in the Faith of Our Fathers centennial book says Smith was in Africa working as a freelance photographer when he “came too close to the action and was shot and killed”.
Smith, 70, a former journalist, is very much alive.
