A Catholic Sister in Papua New Guinea’s Western Province says Christian health workers alone cannot adequately fight tuberculosis in the remote province.
Sister Anna Sanginawa says the sporadically-funded job that Christian Health Services commit themselves to is not enough to beat TB.
Western is one of three provinces in PNG that the national government recently identified as needing urgent health efforts to help address the spread of tuberculosis.
The Health Department has reportedly accelerated its response to the spiralling situation in Western province’s capital Daru where health workers are now infected with drug-resistant TB.
Anna Sanginawa belongs to the Sisters of the Rosary.
She come from Belmo village in the Yangoru District of East Sepik.
She holds a Diploma in General Nursing and an Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.
She has done short courses in general management skills attaining Certificates of Merits-Introduction to HIV/Aids, Computing skills and HIV/AIDS-Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission, Trainer of Trainees.
