Divine Word University has memorial for plane crash victims

A small memorial ceremony has been held at the Divine Word University (DWU) in Madang, Papua New Guinea, in honour of 28 people killed in Thursday’s plane crash.

At least 10 passengers aboard the Airlines PNG Dash 8 plane, which went down in a remote jungle area about 20km from the resort town of Madang, were relatives of DWU students and had travelled from Port Moresby to take part in a graduation ‘thanksgiving ceremony’ at the campus on Friday.

On Saturday morning about 300 people gathered at a small chapel inside the university for a commemorative Catholic mass.
