Hato Petera’s senior boarding hostel also closes

The Catholic Bishop of Auckland, Patrick Dunn, has closed the all boarding halls at the Māori college Hato Petera.

The hostels houses about 60 of the school’s 70 students and will be permanently closed.

The closure of the hostels was first suggested earlier this month, and parents were called to a meeting to discuss the issue on Monday.

Parents are now trying to find other accommodation for their children near the school on Auckland’s North Shore.
