Pacific scientists push to overturn EU ban on kava

Scientists from the Pacific are confident they can overturn a European Union ban on the export of kava – Government and agency representatives will gather at a Kava Symposium in Vanuatu next month, the biggest gathering since the ban was brought in 10 years ago.

Kava ban lifted in Canberra

Health officials in the Australian Capital Territory lifted a kava ban for three days while  a multicultural festival takes place in Canberra.

The ban had upset the local Pacific Island community, which had been warned that anyone caught with kava would face jail.
