Former convent site to be developed for low-cost housing

A low-cost housing sub-division is to be developed on the site of a former convent in Taita.

The developer, Rudi van Baarle, is to meet Finance Minister Bill English and intends using it as an example of what experienced building companies can achieve without the added cost of “middle men”.

Barnardos announced more than a year ago it would be selling the two-storey former convent and large grounds adjacent to St Michael’s School. Continue reading
